The Pan-American Geographical and Historical Institute will act as a liaison organ between American geographical and historical institutes, for the purpose of
facilitating the study of geographical and historical problems. It will initiate and coordinate such investigations as may be necessary to ensure the co -operation of various countries and will supervise scientific discussions. It will be responsible for the publication of such works as the American States may instruct it to issue. It will make investigations with a view to throwing light on frontier questions whenever it is asked tp do so by the countries directly concerned. It will be responsible for forming a, comprehensive collection of maps and historical documents relating to America and a library of works on the subjects with which the Institute deals.
