Object
To unite young Roman Catholic workers in local unions with houses of their own; to assist members in their professional training, especially in migrations and travelling; to give them a thorough religious, professional and civic education. In its international manifesto, issued 1928 at Vienna, the Society proclaims as its aims: Family, democracy and international peace.

The founder of the Society was Father Adolf Kolping, who, already before 1865, founded himself the local unions of Cologne, Berlin, Munich, Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Zagreb, Basle, Zurich.
