General Assembly, Executive Committee, Permanent Bureau. The General Assembly, the Executive Committee and its permanent bureau. The Executive Committee consists of two regular and four substitute members for each of the countries represented. (HB 1929) The General Assembly that can inculde the members of all affiliated associations; the executive committee composed of seven members of each country; there is also a Bureau including the President , the Treasurer, three assessors and the General Secretary. The Bureau is composed of the Chairman (of a different nationality after each period of three years) — Sir Francis Towle, CJB.E., London, until June 1938 — the Treasurer, three Assessors, and the Permanent Secretary-General (Mr. N. P. C. Mellor). The Executive Committee is composed of six members per country; the General Assembly is composed of all the hotelkeepers who are members of national hotel associations affiliated to the International Hotel Alliance (only one employers' association per country may join the Alliance). General facts

Les travaux de l'Alliance ont abouti à l'élaboration, en 1930, d'une série de règles et coutumes internationales de l'hôtellerie, sous réserve, toutefois, des diverses législations nationales, à la codification internationale (en 1934) des diverses lois relatives à la responsabilité des hôteliers (effectuée par l'Institut de Rome pour l'Unification du droit privé d'après des renseignements fournis par l'Alliance), à deux accords avec des organisations internationales d'agences de voyages (1932 et 1933), à plusieurs pétitions et mémoires adressés aux autorités publiques, et à des conférences internationales. (HB 1936) At the half-yearly meetings professional questions of common interest to the whole of the hotel industry are discussed and legislative, fiscal and professional information is exchanged (see Bulletins of Information on the Work of International Organisations, compiled by the Section of International Bureaux of the League of Nations). International rules for hotels (subject, of course, to the various national legislations) were drawn up in 1930 ; in 1934 a draft for the unification of the laws in respect of innkeepers' liability was discussed; in 1932 and 1933 agreements were concluded with two international travel agency organisations; in 1936 the standardisation, as far as possible, of national official hotel-guides was recommended; a comparison is made periodically of the conditions of work and other questions which hotel employers are called upon to settle; several memoranda and petitions have been addressed to public authorities, more particularly with a view to freeing the international tourist-traffic from restrictions (particularly monetary restrictions); the central office is the organ for studies, co-ordination and distribution of information in respect of hotel-keeping; it prepares the agenda for meetings.
