Défendre et sauvegarder les intérêts des officiers des marines marchandes des différents pays; obtenir une législation en faveur des gens de mer et des officiers en particulier; s'efforcer d'établir une réglementation internationale sur la durée du travail à bord des navires de commerce, sur l'importance des effectifs, sur les salaires minima, sur la sécurité des vies humaines en mer, etc.; collaborer avec les autres organismes qui poursuivent les mêmes buts (HB 1925). To promote and safeguard the interests of merchant marine officers in all countries; to obtain legislation for protection of all seamen and of officers in particular; to work for the international regulation of hours of work at sea on merchant ships, etc. (HB 1929). En février 1925 fut fondée à Anvers par des associations d'officiers de marine marchande de quelques pays une Organisation internationale provisoire. Cette organisation convoqua à Paris, en juin 1925, un congrès où furent conviées toutes les organisations des officiers de marine marchande. C'est ce Congrès qui a fondé définitivement l'Association internationale des officiers de la marine marchande et qui a établi ses statuts (HB 1925). In 1925, a provisional international organisation was founded at Antwerp by the Merchant Marine Officers' Associations of various countries. This organisation called a congress in Paris in 1925, to which all organisations of merchant marine officers were invited and which founded the International Association of Merchant Marine Officers and drew up its constitution (HB 1929). En 1925 a été constituée à Anvers, par les associations d'officiers de la marine marchande de divers pays, une organisation internationale provisoire. Cette organisation convoqua à Paris, en 1925, un congrès où furent conviées toutes les organisations d'officiers de la marine marchande.
