The Association was founded in 1932 at Amsterdam following the first Conference of Youth Hostels; second Conference held at Godesberg -am-Rhein (Germany) in 1933; third near London in 1934; fourth at Cracow in 1935; fifth at Copenhagen in 1936; sixth in Paris in 1937.
