HB 1938: To organise the work of the international polar year, 1932-33, so as to derive the greatest possible benefit from the scientific work of the polar year.

HB 1938: The Committee is dependent upon the International Meteorological Organisation. It also received grants from the Rockefeller Foundation and the International Association of Meteorology in 1932; a grant from the International Association of Meteorology and support from the International Association for Terrestrial Magnetism and Electricity in 1933 and a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation in 1934.

HB 1936: Une fois instituée, la Commission obtint la coopération de l'Union géodésique et géophysique internationale, de l'Union radio-scientifique internationale et du Conseil permanent pour l'exploration de la mer. Conférences tenues à Leningrad, août 1930; Innsbruck, septembre 1931; Copenhague, mai 1933. HB 1938: As soon as it was constituted, the Committee obtained the cooperation of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics, the International Union of Scientific Radio-telegraphy, and the Permanent Council for the Exploration of the Sea. Conferences held at Leningrad, August 1930; Innsbruck, September 1931; Copenhagen, May 1933.
