Les conférences ont eu leur origine dans une première réunion organisée à Genève en 1920, par E. Claparède, dans le but d'examiner en commun quelques questions relatives aux applications de la psychologie.

The conferences originated in a meeting organised by E. Claparede at Geneva in 1920, for the consideration of certain questions regarding the applications of psychology. The second conference was held at Barcelona in 1921, the third at Milan in 1923, the fourth at Paris in 1927, the fifth at Utrecht in 1928, the sixth at Barcelona in 1930, the seventh at Moscow in 1931, the eighth at Prague in 1934.
